Stamps - 1949 UPU : British Empire Omnibus : Issuing Countries

Full List of the 63 participating territories

The 75th anniversary of the UPU (Universal Postal Union) in 1949 was the occasion for a large number of commemorative issues throughout the world.

The Crown Agents produced an 'omnibus' issue of 63 sets/4 stamps, comprising the same four designs for each country. The low value of each set has a silhouette of a streamlined steam locomotive.

The stamps were issued in sheets of 60 (5 x 12). To our knowledge, no significant design varieties exist. The 63 territories are listed alphabetically below (with the Malayan States grouped together for convenience).
